Definition and chemical composition of salt
This is a binary compound (that is, consisting of two parts), which consists of metal ions and an acid residue. That is, this substance resulting from the reaction of the acid and hydroxide (oxide) of any metal.
There is one more definition:
This compound is a product of the complete or partial replacement of a hydrogen ion of an acid by a metal ion (suitable for medium, basic and acidic). Both definitions are correct, but do not reflect the essence of the process of obtaining salt.
